about
Julia Jin-Wolfson is a 24-year-old self-taught painter born and based in New York City. From an early age, Julia was captivated by the challenge of rendering the world as she saw it—truthfully, precisely, and with feeling. Over time, drawing became more than a skill; it became a way of thinking.
Before turning to painting, Julia studied both chemistry and Russian literature, drawn to the tension between analysis and emotion, structure and soul. After college, she worked as a math teacher, where she honed her discipline and sense of clarity—but painting called her into a different kind of work: slower, more mysterious, and rooted in things that can’t be solved.
Today, she works primarily in oil paint, using visual art to reflect on the human condition and wrestle with questions of meaning, mortality, and faith. She is still early in her journey and learning with each piece.
